Sunday 3/9

Well another day spent around the house with a few visitors. Grandpa came today to see his newest grandson. Colton took to him with no problem and seemed right at home in his arms. Aunt Marlo came by as well today and worked on Coltons wall mural. It looks so nice and rounds out his room perfectly. We are looking forward to tomorrow as it will be Colton's one week with us date.

Lazy Saturday at home

Well we spent a lazy day around the house with a few visits from grandmothers. First "Nana" stopped by after a day full of shopping to share some goodies for the family. Next "Grammy" came to deliver Julianna and Ethan who had a sleep over with her last night. The had a wonderful time and packed much into the prior 24 hours. Colton continues to feed well and spends short periods of time awake and very alert. It is during these periods that we get a glimpse of his budding personality. I will continue to update as he continues to grow and amaze us.

First trip to the doctor

Colton had his first trip to see the doctor. Just a normal checkup that went off without a hitch. Colton has maintained his weight of 7lbs 7ozs which is the same as when we left the hospital. To continue his day of firsts we took him to a restaurant (TGI Fridays)for his first meal away from home. As a way to round out the day Colton made his first visit to Target. He was not very excited about this and just slept the entire time. To bad mommy would not push me around the store in a basket and let me sleep as well.

Colton, arrived yesterday, March 3, 2008, at 5:11 p.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz and was 20.8 inches long. He is the sweetest little thing. Julianna and Ethan were such larger babies that he seems tiny to us and so much lighter to hold. Colton is doing great. It wasn't too bad of a delivery. My doctor started the induction at 10:30 a.m. and broke my water at 3:33 p.m. I was able to hold out and not get the epidural until after my water broke, around 4 p.m. I progressed really quickly at that point and was ready to push by 5 p.m. After the second push, Colton's head came out and the cord was wrapped around his neck. That was a couple of scary and tense moments. After my dr cut the cord I gave another push or two and out he came. He seemed so startled and scared at first, trying to catch his breath, ! but the n after a few more scary and tense seconds he started wailing and pinked up. He was alert and awake from the moment he was born until about 8:30 that night. He slept for a bit, fussed for a bit, and then after his midnight bath they brought him back into the room about 1 a.m. where he slept until 8 a.m, woke up to nurse for a while, had his circumsion, promptly fell asleep again and didn't awaken again until about 5:30 when he wanted to eat and was ready to visit with Julianna, Ethan, Nana, Papa, Aunt Marlo, and Pastor Jim. He has been very difficult to awaken. I wish I could say I have slept, but I have a horrible time sleeping in any place other than my bed and I was still feeling a bit uncomfortable. Matt stayed on this horrible little couch and was up on his feet the minute anyone walked in the door, poor, sweet, wonderful guy. He did go home this afternoon to make Ethan's meds, get a few things, and bring Julianna and Ethan ! up to s ee the baby. They are beside themselves with excitement over Colton. Last night Julianna actually hopped, bounced into the room with the largest smile I have ever seen. I don't think she stopped giggling the entire time she was here. It took Ethan a little while to warm up, but then he sat on the couch, put a pillow over his lap, and said, "I hold my baby brother Colton now." Him and Julianna actually started arguing over who was going to hold him next. Miss Mother Hen Julianna won out, but I think only for a short while. She made Joyce write down all the birth statistics so should could share them with her teacher and wore her "I'm a Big Sister" t-shirt to school.
